Aperto Participates in Second Mobile WiMAX™ PlugFest
MALAGA, Spain (Vocus) February 13, 2007 -- Aperto® Networks, builder of the world's most advanced WiMAX base stations and subscriber units, today announced that it is participating in the WiMAX Forum's® second public Mobile WiMAX PlugFest in Malaga, Spain. The company's award-winning PacketMAX™ 5000, the industry's highest density WiMAX Forum Certified™ base station, will be tested against products from other companies to ensure interoperability for the emerging IEEE 802.16e-2005 standard.
"We are delighted to once again participate in the WiMAX Forum's PlugFest initiative," said Manish Gupta, vice president of marketing and alliances for Aperto Networks and WiMAX Forum Board Member. "This is an important milestone in the continuing development of our 'e' solution and provides another opportunity to demonstrate the technology leadership that led to Aperto becoming the first company to be WiMAX Forum Certified in January 2006. It will also help us to identify and refine best practices that will be used to expand our WiMAX Solutions Ecosystem (WISE) program."
In addition to being the industry's highest density base station, the PacketMAX 5000 is also the only carrier grade base station that can support and operate both the IEEE802.16-2004 and IEEE802.16-2005 WiMAX standards simultaneously.
"With more than 30 companies participating in this latest mobile WiMAX Forum PlugFest, there is strong momentum and a clear commitment by the WiMAX ecosystem," said Ron Resnick, president and chairman of the WiMAX Forum. "By the contributions of Aperto and the other PlugFest participants, these WiMAX Forum interoperability events continue to show a significant leap ahead with maturity of mobile WIMAX products. Additionally, the experience gained at these PlugFests is critical to improve quality of interoperability testing and to maintain our accelerated path to WiMAX Forum Certification."
